This is the roster of the workshops that I teach in person in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you’re interested in taking any of them please let me know, and I’ll let you know when they’re scheduled. I also offer private classes, either one-on-one or for groups.
INKJET PRINTING ON FABRIC
Learn to print your artwork, images & designs on cotton and silk with an inkjet printer. This exciting technique opens the door to many possibilities for creating original fabric to use in gifts, quilts, art pieces, and much more…. You will go home with two sheets of treated fabric printed with your images, and with the knowledge to begin printing fabric on your home inkjet printer.
EXPLORING LUTRADUR : ONE-DAY WORKSHOP
Learn how to create personal art with this exciting new product that combines the best qualities of fabric and paper. Lutradur looks, feels and folds like translucent paper and doesn’t tear or fray. It’s the perfect medium for a wide variety of mixed media art, crafting, and sewing. Each person will complete at least one project at the workshop.
BEYOND PAPER : INKJET PRINTING ON UNUSUAL SURFACES
Learn to make creative and unique artwork using surfaces other than paper and your inkjet printer. We will explore several products and techniques to print directly on fabric, vellum, transparency film, and more. You will learn how to coat surfaces for inkjet printing with Golden Paint’s Digital Ground. I will also demonstrate printing directly on metal and wood veneer (a printer with a straight path is required). Each person will work on at least one printing project at the workshop.
INTRODUCTION TO SELLING YOUR ARTWORK ONLINE
Overview class designed to teach you about the many different options to market and sell your artwork and/or crafts on the internet. You will learn the pros and cons of having your own website, selling through print-on-demand websites, selling your handmade work on Etsy or similar sites, using blogs and other social marketing tools, and much more. This information will save you much time in doing the research on your own, and save you from wasting time and money on the wrong kind of venue for your situation.
PHOTO ART : ALTERED IMAGERY
Learn to transform your photographs into works of art with software programs and techniques. We will explore how to enhance your original photos to achieve unique and artistic effects. We will use Adobe Photoshop Elements at the workshop, but will explore techniques that other image processing programs use.
INKJET TRANSFER TECHNIQUES
Learn several techniques to transfer images and text to a variety of surfaces. We will explore using inkjet transfers to enhance your artwork and to create mixed media, collage and other works. Each person will work on two transfer projects at the workshop.
INKJET HEAT TRANSFER TECHNIQUES
Learn to make creative and unique artwork, crafts and gifts using heat transfers and your inkjet printer. We will explore several products and techniques to transfer images and text to a wide variety of surfaces. Each person will work on two transfer projects at the workshop.
NATURE + ART
A hands-on workshop to inspire and teach you basic and advanced techniques for enriching your artwork with natural objects and images, including flowers and plants, and animals and wildlife. This workshop will be molded to the interests of the participants, and can include topics such as improving your nature photography, using nature in mixed media art, how to find natural subjects or attract them to your garden, and much more. No equipment is required, but if you have them, bring along your digital camera and/or laptop computer (including smartphone or tablet). Or bring your favorite paints, pencils, pastels, etc.
HANDMADE GIFTS WITH YOUR INKJET PRINTER
Learn to make personalized gifts using your own photographs and printer. We will explore several techniques for creating unique gifts, such as printing on fabric and other unusual surfaces, and will complete at least one project at the workshop. Plenty of time before the holidays to create gifts for everyone on your list!
HANDMADE JEWELRY WITH YOUR INKJET PRINTER
Learn to make personalized jewelry with your own images or artwork. We will explore techniques to create unique earrings, necklaces, bracelets and pins from paper and fabric that you print on your inkjet printer. We will complete at least one project at the workshop.
ART QUILTS AND FABRIC HANGINGS
Learn to create original art quilts using fabric that you print on your inkjet printer. This is a hands-on workshop where we will explore printing your fabric, designing the art quilt or hanging, adding adornments, basic quilting construction, and framing or hanging options.
THE PERSONALIZED PET!
Learn to make fun and useful pet products for your pups or cats from fabric that you design and print yourself from your own images and designs on your home inkjet printer. Pamper your pet with handmade, personalized collars and leashes, catnip toys and blankets, mini-quilts, costumes or apparel, and more!
