About Heidi's photo-art:

The faces and patterns of nature inspire me. Thanks to George's green thumb and love of animals, we are surrounded by showy orchids, precious California native plants and glorious roses. Our house bustles with turtles and tortoises and photogenic cats, and a constant stream of hummingbirds, butterflies and squirrels visit our bucolic backyard.

I call my images "fauxtographics" to reflect the fact that I manipulate many of the photos for a more artistic than realistic effect. In my darkroom-days I was thrilled by alternative processes like multiple exposure, solarization and infrared printing. I now revel in the limitless ways to enhance photos with graphics software, and in choosing which of the wide range of materials works best for an image. Most lately I am printing directly on fabric and creating textile art such as vases, books, scarves, sachets, and much more. I also use varied transfer techniques to incorporate my photos onto wood, tile, stone, glass, mica....

I am a member of some great local art groups:

*Pinole Artisans, see the informative website at http://www.PinoleArtisans.org

*Pleasanton Craft Mafia, check us out! http://www.pleasantoncraftmafia.com

Technical: I print all of my own work on an Epson Photo Stylus R2400 printer with genuine Epson pigment Ultrachrome K3 inks. These inks are archival and fade-resistant. I use a wide range of papers and I also print on special materials, including silk, canvas and cotton, and transparency film.

Products: My images are available as greeting cards, or as prints in varying sizes, depending upon the resolution of the image. I can mat or frame any print. Greeting cards are mounted on acid-free cardstock. I also use my images to create scarves, pillows, fabric postcards, tote bags, magnets, sachets, decorated boxes, purses, fabric bowls, and much more. These are unique and completely original gifts.

You can buy prints through my sales site. And if you want to buy any of my one-of-a-kind handmade pieces, please email me and I'll quickly fill your order or let you know if the piece is still available. I also do custom printing ... just ask. Thanks!
